Selection to enjoy: Les Barricades Mystérieuses, by François Couperin (1668-1733), performed by Francisco López on the theorbo, a string instrument in the lute family. I dislike most performances of this beautiful piece, as they are often performed at a very fast tempo. The slower tempo of this performance, with its resonant bass line, allows one to linger over and savor the various, beautiful melody lines.
Suggested use: Pick something new that you’re going to try. Get out of your comfort zone.

Mindset to strengthen: Working with your hands
Why it matters: Working with something you can touch requires more Concentration than working with something virtual.
In our digital world, distractions are a never-ending onslought. To stay human, we have to consistently interact with the real world.
Maria Montessori (1870-1952) found that, when children developed deep Concentration by working with their hands, their behavior improved.
Suggestions to try:
At home: Play a board game - not a computer game - with a family member.
At school: If you’re planning your classes for the fall, consider taking a class where you’ll get to work with your hands, like taking a science class with a lab component.
At work: Take meeting notes with pen and paper, rather than using a digital device.
